Does Your Building Support You?

The front door may or may not be considered the facing direction of the building.  To determine your building type you will need to be clear about how your building sits on the land.  If the sitting direction is southeast, east, north or south then the building is an East type building and is well suited for East type people.

All other directions would mean the building is a West type building.  A West type building would have it's sitting direction in the west, northwest, northeast, or southwest, and be most supportive for West Type people.

Once you know your Feng Shui element type then you can decide if your building is supporting you.  When a building is the same West or East Group type as the occupant, we see more success obtained by the occupant.  Success may come in wealth, good health, or helpful friendships and great relationships.  This is why Feng Shui has been used to match people for marriage for thousands of years.  When two people are of the same West or East Group Type, and live in a home that matches their Group Type, then things tend to go much smoother for them. To determine your building type the sitting direction needs to be determined first.  A Professional Feng Shui consultant who practices the Traditional Feng Shui determines your building type according to East or a West group types and uses a compass when at the building site.  The facing direction is always opposite the sitting direction.

The kitchen is usually found in the sitting area of a building.  For commercial buildings the sitting could be where the warehouse is located or the support of the business such as the vault of a bank, or storage areas, or bathrooms.  In a doctor's office the waiting room and reception area is the facing and the appointment rooms which support the business are in the sitting part of the office.

When determining a restaurant or a home for its building type, we often find the kitchen in the back of the building, therefore; that back direction is referred to as the "sitting" and determines the building's East or West Group Type.

If the Kitchen or sitting part is in the east, southeast, south, or north of the building, that would make that an East type building, and if the Kitchen is in the west, northwest, northeast or southwest, then the building type is most likely a West type building.

The facing direction has the view, or public use area, such as the lobby of a commercial building.   Contrary to other types of Feng Shui, it is the sitting direction that a Feng Shui consultant practicing the Traditional Feng Shui uses to determine the building type, not the placement of the entry door, although the entrance is often found in the facing part of the building.

To determine your building type look for large view windows which may be the determining factor of the facing direction of the building.  The entry doors may be on the side of the building and have would have nothing to do with determining the facing or sitting direction.

If your building's floor plan does not follow this simple equation than you may need a Feng Shui consultation to help you determine your buildings sitting and facing direction.  To schedule a ONE HOUR PHONE consultation with me click here or phone me at (805) 523-8488.
